A random shelf that changes every day

A “why not try” shelf that shows a different handful of featured books each time the list is refreshed, so the home page does not look identical every day.

The list

In the app this list is called A random shelf.

What it says

Take every Book. Keep the ones where Featured is true. Order them at random. Keep the first 6.

On the storefront

The order is drawn when the list is evaluated, not on every page view: the storefront stays static and cacheable. The nightly sweep re-evaluates every list, so the shelf reshuffles once a day, and sooner if any book changes.

In your store

Testimonials in rotation, a random recipe, a featured stockist. Combine it with conditions so the random pick is drawn from the right pool.
