Every book by an author, on the author’s page

Authors have their own pages. Each should list every book that references that author, oldest first.

The list

In the app this list is called Books by this author.

What it says

Take every Book. Per referenced entry, through the Author field: for each author, keep the books whose Author is that author. Sort by First published, earliest first.

On the storefront

The app writes one JSON map, lists.books-by-author, keyed by author handle. Shopify serves the author page at /pages/authors/jane-austen once the type has web pages enabled, and the snippet looks the map up with metaobject.system.handle. Up to 20 books per author are kept; sort so the ones you want are first.

In your store

Products by designer on the designer page, recipes by chef, articles by topic, sessions by speaker. Whenever a type is the target of a reference, this list gives its page the entries that point at it.
